The 5Cs Accreditation
The 5Cs Accreditation enables sport psychology practitioners to become more knowledgeable and skilled at delivering our framework as effectively as possible. It aims to ensure that the framework is applied creatively and responsibly with individuals, teams and organisations.
Who can get accredited in the 5Cs?
Becoming an accredited practitioner in the 5Cs (Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control, Confidence) requires more than familiarity with the framework—it demands competence in applying it ethically, responsively, and effectively in sport settings. Practitioners must show evidence of academic grounding in sport psychology and supervised applied experience with athlete clients. In addition, they should adhere to professional standards (e.g. confidentiality, integrity, ongoing CPD) and be able to integrate the 5Cs in sporting environments, tailoring interventions to individual and contextual needs. Such a practitioner is expected to not only deliver psycho-educational principles, but also to collaborate with coaches, athletes, and support staff to embed psychosocial development into the culture of sport organizations.
Accreditation process for being a practitioner
Stage 1: A series of short online modules
A series of five short online modules that introduce practitioners to the key principles and philosophical background to the 5Cs framework. This is followed by a knowledge check assessment, ensuring the preparatory knowledge necessary for the in-person training.
Stage 2: A two-day in-person training event
A two day in person training event where the application of the 5Cs approach will be explored across different sport contexts and clients. Practitioners will engage in group discussion, interviewing and role play practices, assessment exercises, and practical games including use of the new 5Cs Coaching Cards
Stage 3: A presentation and assessment
A competence assessment through the application of the 5Cs in your practice.. Following the stage 2 training practitioners have up to nine months to submit a concise portfolio of their work for assessment. A series of follow-up online group meetings will assist with ongoing learning.
