The 5Cs Certification
The 5Cs Certification is a programme that recognises coaches who have developed and illustrated their competence in supporting an athlete's psychological and social development through sport.

Introductory CPD for newly qualified or student-coaches
For student-coaches or those newly qualified, we offer a 3hr coach development course (The '5Cs Engaged' Coach) focused on enhancing knowledge around the principles of the 5Cs and how to integrate the framework into their coaching practice. This course aims to improve a coach's confidence in how they can begin to support an athletes psychological and social skills.
Progressing to 5Cs Coach Certification
For professional and established coaches, the 5Cs certification programme enables deeper engagement with the framework to help coaches enhance their athletes and teams' understanding and behaviours associated with the 5Cs. It focuses on developing coaching competence through the application of assessment, learning and performance tools that underpin how the framework can be properly integrated into the athlete development environment. Coaches benefit from shared discussion and insights, as well as subsequently joining a growing community of certified coaches.

The Certification Process
There are three stages to this programme to become a 5Cs certified coach.
Stage 1: A series of short online modules
Stage 2: A two-day in-person training event
Stage 3: A presentation and assessment
Frequently asked questions
The programme aims to build a community of 5Cs coaches who are trained at a high standard and are able to deliver the framework to the athletes they work with. Once certified, you can expect these resources and services to support the athletes you work with in their understanding and application of the 5Cs framework in professional coaching and consulting.
It is expected that interested coaches will be working as full time professionals in their sport, and have completed at least intermediate level coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 3 UK coaching). They should be predominantly working with young people in individual and/or team sports.
Following acceptance and entry to the programme, you must complete all three stages: a series of five short online modules and knowledge check, a two-day in-person training event to further develop your knowledge of 5Cs tools and practical skills in applying the framework, and a final assessment submission where you present how you implemented the 5Cs in your coaching practice. The whole process will take between 6 to 12 months depending on your own pace. The online modules can be completed at your leisure from 4-6 weeks before the two-day in-person training date. Then, coaches have up to 9 months to complete the assessment phase. Look out for the dates of the in-person training and register your interest.
The 5Cs Certification costs £699 which is inclusive of: online modules access (stage 1), in person training (stage 2), book, coaching cards, access and permission to use our profiling tool, CPD forum, assessment of portfolio (stage 3) plus Accredited membership for 1 year. In the two day training, refreshments and lunches are covered.
Yes. After 1 year of access to benefits during certification, there will be opportunities to join as a certified member to maintain and access CPD. There will be a modest annual certified member fee that will enable you to continue getting a discount for your athletes on our 5Cs profiling tool that we will be offering to coaches, as well as community CPD events.
For clubs and organisations with multiple coaching staff wanting to complete the certification, we can certainly discuss options here.
